Covid-19 is wreaking havoc on the restaurant and bar industry. Bar sales are non-existent while restaurants try to decide on the best strategy to stay afloat. For the month of May just as bars were allowed to re-open at reduced capacity, we see Austin’s 6th street with 112 active liquor licenses reporting $1,591,544 in Liquor, beer and wine sales. Let’s compared this to February at $8,655,100 pre-coronavirus and March the start of the virus at $4,419,052. These businesses are not sustainable under those kinds of circumstances.
